New Supplier Alert - Powertex®

Powertex® was launched in Belgium in September 2001 and is now used by crafters, hobbyists and artists across the globe!

The medium is environmentally friendly, non-toxic, highly versatile, a water-based hardener that is compatible with a multitude of all absorbent and natural materials including paper, textile, leather, cardboard, fibreglass, wood, sand etc.

Powertex® will transform textiles into masterpieces! It really is a remarkable adhesive. You can easily create artwork, statues, paintings and even jewellery! Treated fabric can be draped, folded and manipulated into many different ways, creating wonderful masterpieces – perfect for crafters dabbling in mixed media.

You can also add colour to your Powertex® with the use of colour pigments. Statues and other various designs can also be painted with oil paint or a varnish mixed with powdered colour pigments.

Powertex® is a liquid medium that is ready to be used straight from the container. Use Powertex® to brush onto items or dip directly into the product for full coverage. It will remain flexible for quite a while, depending on temperature, but should be dry to the touch within an hour or two. Powertex® takes about 3 weeks to cure, making it completely waterproof for use outside!

Tracey from Powertex® UK will be bringing some amazing kits and educational shows to Hochanda in June!

Meet the Presenter - Matt MacNamara

1.      How did you first get introduced to crafts? I’ve always loved craft and had such great respect for anyone who makes and creates crafty items. At craft fairs it is always me that holds up everyone else in the group while I chat to the people on the stalls about what they have made. My wife Karen, or Mrs M, is very crafty too. She’s into the classic decoupage, upcycling old boxes and furniture. She also makes her own jewellery and I sometimes help her run the stalls at craft fairs.. 2.      What have been your highlights so far on Hochanda? We have a very talented pool of guests, so there is always something so creative going on in the studio, so honestly, every day is highlight. I’ve also had the good fortune to have tried several crafts for the first time ever. It’s pleasantly surprising to discover that to be a good crafter you don’t necessarily have to be artistic, you just need to be imaginative and creative. We all have our own...

Barbara Gray - Giveaway

Who caught the wonderful demonstrations from Barbara Gray on Sunday, and again yesterday?  Barbara inspired us all, as ever, and we had some busy shows.  Barbara even jumped onto the phones to help with a customer query!  That's the beauty of having our customer services and order line in house - and brilliant guests who are happy to have a natter to our callers. Barbara has also, generously, donated one of the pieces from the show, as a giveaway on todays blog post. Isn't it beautiful.   If you would like a chance to win this masterpiece, then all you need to do is leave a comment on this post, and someone will be picked at random tomorrow evening.
