This week we are going to introduce you to one of the lovely guests who shares her infectious inspiration with the Hochanda viewers, it Hayley from Crafty Yourself Silly:

Craft Yourself Silly is a great name for a company - how did the company evolve, and who chose the name?

The company developed from the craft classes we were teaching through the pottery painting business I used to have with my mum, and from there came the kits and the rest is history. Although it has happened so quickly we’re only 2 1/2 years old as a company and have grown to a team of 8 and we’re having a blast. It was me who chose the name, I wanted something that was fun because that’s exactly what craft should be.

I love that you bring us products that are designed to be functional, look brilliant but are all achievable. Is it tricky coming up with new product ranges and ideas?

We’re always looking for new ideas as craft is such a fast moving industry and for us we tend to look back at older crafts and try to make them simpler, more modern and exciting. Everything we do is about achieving big results with as little effort as possible and always happy to cheat in any way possible. We also love what we call "non concentraty crafts”, things that you can do in a social environment like a craft group and still hold a conversation without fear of ruining hours of work or even just in front of the telly.

Do you get recognised from being on the telly - and if so, where has been the funniest/most embarrassing place?

I have never been recognised for being on the telly.

Do you manage to get time off work, and if so, how do you love spending your time?

In the beginning there were no days off at all, but now we have a lovely team I’m starting to get some of my weekends back (apart from when I m heading down to Hochanda). When I’m off I’m lucky enough to live near the beach so spend time there and just generally having a catch up with friends:-).

Finally, what's next for Craft Yourself Silly?

We have some super duper new set coming out in the new year but they’re still a bit top secret at the minute SSSSHHHH and some exciting new quilting ranges heading to Hochanda at the end of the month so keep your eyes peeled:-) I’m back on at Halloween and yes I have costumes :-)

Meet the Presenter - Matt MacNamara

1. How did you first get introduced to crafts? I’ve always loved craft and had such great respect for anyone who makes and creates crafty items. At craft fairs it is always me that holds up everyone else in the group while I chat to the people on the stalls about what they have made. My wife Karen, or Mrs M, is very crafty too. She’s into the classic decoupage, upcycling old boxes and furniture. She also makes her own jewellery and I sometimes help her run the stalls at craft fairs.. 2. What have been your highlights so far on Hochanda? We have a very talented pool of guests, so there is always something so creative going on in the studio, so honestly, every day is highlight. I’ve also had the good fortune to have tried several crafts for the first time ever. It’s pleasantly surprising to discover that to be a good crafter you don’t necessarily have to be artistic, you just need to be imaginative and creative. We all have our own...
