Sue Wilson's Poinsettia

I had to use that beautiful die set again.  And I wanted to show you a variation on the technique I covered in the previous post.

I'll start with my shopping list:

Sue Wilson Poinsettia Die:Sue Wilson Poinsettia
Couture Creations Joy: Joy Die
Pine Cones: Finishing Touches
Cosmic Shimmer Glitters: Glitter Jewels Set
Double sided Adhesive Sheets: Double sided adhesive sheet

And this is where we're headed:

Have a look at the post previous to this to see how to make the lovely sparkly poinsettia, it's precisely the same process - but to set the colour I have simply applied ink to the sparkle after I have die cut the petals.  This allowed me to graduate the colour a little.  I used a rich red brilliance pad, and just sponged the colour on.  As it's a brilliant pad it will dry on the glitter.  I decided not to use the edge die for this one, just to see what it would look like - and I'm really happy.

Cut the Joy shadow die from decorative red paper, and the actual word out of white card. I stuck the red down flat, and the white I added 3D foam.  I dotted a little gold glitter glue on the y and next to the J:

To finish this very simple, but very effective card, I added my little fir cones from the Creative Expressions Finishing Touches collection.  I split the cones up, as they are wired together, but I wanted to place them singularly.

A little glitter/cinnamon powder in the centre of the flower finishes my card.

Meet the Presenter - Matt MacNamara

1.      How did you first get introduced to crafts? I’ve always loved craft and had such great respect for anyone who makes and creates crafty items. At craft fairs it is always me that holds up everyone else in the group while I chat to the people on the stalls about what they have made. My wife Karen, or Mrs M, is very crafty too. She’s into the classic decoupage, upcycling old boxes and furniture. She also makes her own jewellery and I sometimes help her run the stalls at craft fairs.. 2.      What have been your highlights so far on Hochanda? We have a very talented pool of guests, so there is always something so creative going on in the studio, so honestly, every day is highlight. I’ve also had the good fortune to have tried several crafts for the first time ever. It’s pleasantly surprising to discover that to be a good crafter you don’t necessarily have to be artistic, you just need to be imaginative and creative. We all have our own...

Barbara Gray - Giveaway

Who caught the wonderful demonstrations from Barbara Gray on Sunday, and again yesterday?  Barbara inspired us all, as ever, and we had some busy shows.  Barbara even jumped onto the phones to help with a customer query!  That's the beauty of having our customer services and order line in house - and brilliant guests who are happy to have a natter to our callers. Barbara has also, generously, donated one of the pieces from the show, as a giveaway on todays blog post. Isn't it beautiful.   If you would like a chance to win this masterpiece, then all you need to do is leave a comment on this post, and someone will be picked at random tomorrow evening. Good luck everyone. Tune in to Hochanda every day 24/7 for lots of fun and crafty demonstrations!
