Get to know our Guest Host for Creative Expressions - Julia Watts

1.      We love your card creations. How did you get into card making and can you remember the very first thing you made? It was about 12 years ago. I suddenly decided that I would like to make our Christmas Cards that year so, I went down to the local superstore. I bought some green A6 card blanks and envelopes, some toppers (all square ones), a Happy Christmas wood mounted stamp and a silver ink pad. They were very simple cards but I was totally hooked! 2.     The crafting world loves your designs and techniques, where do you get all your ideas from?  That’s a hard one! I guess my ideas usually start with a stamp image, a die or a technique that I want to include on a card. Then everything else builds around that. Sometimes ideas come from other crafters – kind of a ‘that’s cool, I wonder if I could do that with this products instead’ moment.  3.      When you're not crafting, what else do you like to do for ...

Meet the guests.....Six Penny Memories

We love watching you on TV, you have such a good rapport, and obviously are passionate about teaching and passing on your skills. 1.     How did you get into working on the telly? Thanks for talking to us, we hope that our passion for sewing and fabrics comes across!    We were at the NEC at a Trade Show and were approached to take our products onto Shopping TV.  We had our first show in May 2013 and haven’t looked back since, we like to have fun and hopefully inspire others to have a go. 2.     You make a brilliant team, how did you start working together to bring us Six Penny Memories? We met many years ago at a Craft and Needlework show in Newcastle. I (Debbie) was teaching and had my patterns on one of the stands and Kim was there with her shop The Fat Quarters.   At the end of the ...

Meet the Presenter - Alex Turchyn

Coffee break quick fire questions with... Alex Turchyn How did you get introduced to crafts? My Granddad got me in to crafts and art from as soon as I could pick up a pen and brush. We would spend hours together drawing, painting and making things. What has been your highlights so far on Hochanda? Everyday is a highlight! I love meeting the guests, learning about different crafts and I particularly love it when the guests don't mind me crafting with them! What are looking forward to next with Hochanda? I'm looking forward to seeing the huge variety of hobbies, crafts and arts and especially the cross stitch shows which will be coming soon as that is one of my favourites. If there was one other craft you would like to try what would it be? Oooo that's a tricky one! I haven't yet had a go at making the tiny houses and furniture, which looks great fun and I'd love to do some glass painting. Inte...
